Alamere Falls Hike

Published on Monday, April 6th, 2015

I went with a couple of friends to Alamere Falls in Marin County on Saturday, March 21st. It was a nice reunion with my current roommate, and with my former roommate and hiking buddy. Hike Description The hike is not particularly rigorous, but plenty long to make one feel like they have gotten some exercise. The trail is also a pleasant mix of exposed hillsides and wooded sections. You will pass a few lakes and streams on the route. You will get amazing views of the ocean if you go on a day lik...

Mt Whitney 2013

Published on Saturday, September 14th, 2013

The time for our much anticipated Mt. Whitney hike finally came. I have to say that I wasn't as prepared as I would like to have been, but I decided I owed it to myself to make a push for the peak. Maybe after the hike I could repair the damage. I headed out with four other coworkers: Chris and Jonathan (my long time hiking buddies), and Matt and Jeff. We loaded up in Matt's RV early Wednesday and headed for Mt. Whitney. Our goal was to begin the hike in the early AM hours on Thursday. To be h...

Sea Cliff Beach Regional YSA

Published on Saturday, August 24th, 2013

Went down to Sea Cliff Beach for the first time for a regional YSA activity involving the stakes in the east bay. This time around a few folks from Santa Cruz and the South Bay even joined along. The weather at the Beach was spectacular. Some friends and I even took a pretty good swim out a good distance into the ocean. I snapped a few shots. This isn't anything too epic. But thought I'd throw the pictures up here for the handful that are interested in seeing them. Do enojy! Sea Cliff Beach Da...

Big Basin Hike

Published on Saturday, August 10th, 2013

Took a hike with my friend Jennifer the other day. I had wanted to go to Big Basin for quite some time, and it was nice to finally get around to it. My roommate and fellow hiking buddy, Chris, had gone the week before while I was still getting back from England, and he really seemed to enjoy his visit there. So I decided it was a good choice for a place to take my friend who is here nannying for a local family, and who is from Colombia. Why not show our visitor some of the best California has t...

Leavitt Peak Hike

Published on Friday, July 19th, 2013

A friend and I took our day off work to take a day hike on the Pacific Crest Trail in the high Sierras. I looked for a hike that would be reasonably challenging, but close enough and short enough to do in a day (including the drive out from the Bay Area). Mitch agreed to go with me to summit Leavitt Peak which lies near the edge of the Stanislaus National Forest, if I am not mistaken. The peak elevation is listed as 11,573 feet on Wikipedia, though my GPS thought it is 11,644. The trail is qui...
