Half Dome Hike

Published on Friday, June 21st, 2013

Chris, Jonathan, and I finally won the Half Dome cable lottery and went hiking this week. We decided to hike over night to make it by sunrise. We were rewarded with a beautiful sunrise and uncrowded cables! Hope you enjoy some of the photos! Half Dome Photos [https://photos.app.goo.gl/LH8FNv85Yyvn9ytr8]...

Ohlone Trail - May 10-11 2013

Published on Sunday, May 12th, 2013

On Friday Chris Hall and I set off on a hike I had always wanted to try. Admittedly though, I had always wanted to try this hike in the pleasant spring weather while the hills were still green. Although we didn't make the hike at the right time, we didn't regret it. We headed out Friday morning at around 10:30 AM from the Stanford Parking lot in Fremont west of Mission Peak. We quickly made the 3 mile ascent up Mission peak from an elevation of 390 to 2517 feet. The hike is popular, and the pea...

Picnic Day 2013

Published on Sunday, May 12th, 2013

As I hadn't been to Davis in a while, I decided that Picnic Day 2013 would be a great day to return. Picnic day is "the day" at UC Davis. We were supposed to leave at 7 am, but Charity was confused a...

Thanks to Birthdays, Muir Woods and Stinson

Published on Saturday, February 16th, 2013

Today was a a friend's birthday. For her birthday, Liz decided to invite several of us out to Muir Woods National Monument in Marin County, California. This may not seem like such a good idea in mid February, but we lucked out as the weather must have been around 70 degrees (Fahrenheit, Euro readers, which are likely none). I had been to Muir Woods last spring as part if an 18 mile hiking loop from the beach to Mount Tamalpais and back. This time, the pace was more leisurely as we only walked a...

Fitzgerald Marine Reserve

Published on Sunday, February 10th, 2013

Yesterday I had to the pleasure of going with some friends to the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve on the Pacific Coast of the San Francisco Peninsula. My roommate Chris invited a bunch our friends from the Tri-Valley ward to the reserve at very low tide on February 9th. If there's one thing I've learned about Chris, it's his uncanny ability to pick beautiful days to go to the beach (see Lost Coast post). Statistically speaking, he's a hundred percent (please don't mind the sample size of n = 3). We ...
